“I put my arms in front of me
And went to pull her nearer
And realized that my new best friend
Was nothing but a mirror.”
And went to pull her nearer
And realized that my new best friend
Was nothing but a mirror.”
This poem tells a story about a girl who had thought she made a new friend. Her new friend she could confine in. She told her many things and during all of it the girl listened. She was happy to have made a new friend and wanted to hug her. But when she went to hug her she realized it wasn’t a person she had been talking to, it was a mirror. This shows that all the girl really needed was for somebody to listen. She had felt good about talking about her problems even though she really wasn’t talking to anybody.
